Meet the Crew
Mike and Debi were
both born and raised in Sunny Southern California;
we married in Lake Tahoe in 1984. We have both been
active in the great out doors due to the fact that
our location was central to the sports we both loved
snow skiing, water skiing, motocross, desert racing,
camping, jet skies, atv’s, tennis, and sailing.
Busy Southern California had all the activities we
desired, and loved.
In 1990 we started
coming to the Virgin Islands with our children, here
we would sail and meander through the islands
enjoying the pleasures, and peace of heaven on
earth. On our fourth vacation we decided we wanted
to live on a boat and cruise the world. We just
wanted to get away from the rat race in Southern
California, so upon our return from our vacation we
set out to achieve our goal. We sold our 36ft sail
boat and bought Island Girl.
The next step was
the most difficult! Cash-out and get the family and
our boat ready for our adventure. After about one
and a half years of preparation we were ready to
cast off the dock lines.
With our two children in
tow Erick (11), and Ariel (6), we set-off on the
journey of a lifetime. Two years were spent sailing
through Mexico, Central America, Columbia, and the
Islands of the Caribbean. Money was getting low,
and it was time to replenish the cruising kitty so
we set sail toward St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands,
we chose this island because it is a U.S. Territory,
and it would be the easiest place for us to get a
job, due to the fact that we were U.S. citizens.
The Plan was to get
a job, work the season then sail down island when
hurricane season came around. That was in 1999, we
never left! St. Thomas and her surrounding waters
hold a magnificent natural beauty, it is the caress
of the trade winds, and in her turquoise waters it
is a soft song that calls to us, and we fell in love
all over again. Now, some people think we have the
perfect job. I tend to agree, sharing our love for
sailing and snorkeling in these pristine turquoise
waters of the Virgin Islands, is truly a slice of
paradise.
